Community of Practice (CoP) on Supervision

The Community of Practice (CoP) on Supervision aims to connect academics and researchers at the VU and Amsterdam UMC who have a supervisory role (e.g., supervising master students and PhD candidates).

Mission

The CoP on Supervision aims to:

  • promote a peer coach intervision for the mutual exchange and reflection of supervision practices, challenges in the supervisory role and support needs
  • support the development and implementation of training on responsible supervision at the VU and Amsterdam UMC.

Activities

The CoP on Supervision will promote periodic meetings with academics and researchers in a supervisory role at the VU and Amsterdam UMC, to:

  • share experiences in the supervision of master students and PhD candidates;
  • create a safe space for the mutual exchange of the challenges faced in the supervisory role and support needs (peer coach intervision method);
  • develop and implement training on responsible supervision at the VU and Amsterdam UMC;
  • establish a network of trainers to train academics and researchers in a supervisory role (Train-the-Trainer).
